Chess

I like getting my kids 'end of the school year' gifts.
My 7th grade daughter learned to play chess this year at school;
that is what inspired this gift idea.

My friend cut (and routed and bit) a 12x12 piece of wood.
The actual board part is 11 and a 1/4 inches, but with the route it's 12x12.
I painted it black (back and front).
I researched a chess/checkerboard and how many squares are involved,
(which is 8 rows tall and wide, with 8 squares).
I used my 1.25" square punch on some scrapbook paper and mod podged up a storm.
I did several coats of the mod podge and used my blow dryer for each coat.
It turned out great and sealed perfectly!

p.s. I put some 'Dollar Store' chess pieces in a jar, they are miniature and perfect,
and the price was right :)

Relay For Life

I love sending cards!
I love getting cards!
I love getting warm fuzzy e-mails,
or a specialized FB message.

Since digital is the rage,
I designed these 'digi greetings'
for this year's Relay For Life for you.

It's easy:
Donate $10 to my fundraising page,
(I've sent you an e-mail with the link),
or write me a check for $10 made out to "A.C.S."
(American Cancer Society),
and I'll send you a disc with all of these images on them.
Make sure I have your mailing address, and be looking.
(If you write me a check, or give me cash,
you can give it to me after you get the disc).

Then, you can download them on your computer,
and send them to people for special occasions via email or FB.
OR, you can print them as a 4x6 photo, or print from your computer.
They made great greeting cards too,
They will then be YOURS to do with as you'd like.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Strawberry Lemon Pie

LET'S MAKE A PIE...

YOU'LL NEED:

an 8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
2 Tbs. sugar
2 Tbs. milk
1 cup milk
a carton of cool whip
a 3 oz. instant lemon pudding
a graham cracker pie crust (9 in)
6 or so strawberries, sliced

In a large bowl beat the cream cheese, 2 Tbs. of sugar, and 2 Tbs. of milk until smooth. Spread this as the bottom layer of the pie on the crust. In another large bowl whisk the pudding, 1 cup of milk, and 1 cup of cool whip until smooth. This will be the second layer of your pie. Spread another cup of cool whip on top of the pudding layer, and top with fresh sliced strawberries or raspberries. Chill for a couple of hours, or immediately hack into it, your choice.

P.S. Don't forget to lick the whisk and beaters (mandatory).

Sheet Music Wrap

Old sheet music
(especially a little yellowed)
makes FABULOUS wrapping paper.
This is a little box of candy I left on my 7th graders pillow.
I love giving pillow gifts; it's my fave.

Tweener Earrings

I made these teenie-bopper earrings for my singing class of 10 girls,
for Valentine's Day.

Really quite simple...

I did a 3 bead pattern on a safety pin,
opened the clamp on the earring a bit,
slid the safety pen hole through it,
then used needle nose pliers to clamp it shut again.

My tiny hole punch, some old sheet music, and a heart made the holder.

Happy Day!
